The labyrinth of life
The Labyrinth of Life |
THE PATH TO TRUTH, SELF-DISCOVERY, AND PURPOSE LIKES TO TAKE THE LONG WAY AROUND. Enlightenment. Progress. Self-discovery. They are not linear. At least in one sense. Consider a labyrinth. The goal is to reach the center, but the path takes you in circles, large and small. Sometimes you are moving closer to the center. Other times you find yourself moving farther away. Left. Right. Up. Down. But the only thing you can do is put one foot in front of the other. Trusting. Believing. That the path will take you to the center and back out again. Such is life: Your goal is to find the center - your center. The center of the world. Of Being. Of your purpose. But God only knows what the center is. And what you would find there. Sometimes it feels like you are moving closer to it. Other times it feels the opposite. But the path of discovery takes you all around the edges of the universe. And the circles symbolize wholeness. Totality. As you explore the totality of Being, with the North Star as your guide, you become whole yourself. Faith is believing that you will eventually end up where you need to be. And that it will be good. At the same time, it is in some sense linear. It is not a straight line, but every step is progress. Even the steps that seem to take you farther from the center is, in reality, taking you closer to discovering it. Then again, one could also argue that we cannot find what we need to find without exploring the edges of the universe in our quest. Such is the adventure of life. So stay curious and purposeful.
